Overview
Once Allotments are set up, SalonScale checks every color formula against the service's allotment as it's logged. If it runs over, the extra shows as an additional charge, so you know exactly what to add on top of the service price.
Before you start
Allotments must be set up first. Turn Allotments on and add an allotment to each service you want to use it on. See How to Set Up Allotments.
Logging a session in the Mobile App
Stylists log sessions the same way they always have: select the client, the service, and the bowl, then weigh each product. SalonScale checks each color bowl against the service's allotment as it's logged.
At or under the allotment: no additional charge.
Over the allotment: the extra shows as an additional charge for that service.
The cost shown on the session is the additional charge plus any other charges for things like extensions or add-ons (i.e. what should be charged to the client).
To view a breakdown of the total color used compared to the additional charges click into the session total to get to the price summary.
Note: If your salon uses a markup, the additional charge is calculated using the marked-up cost of the color.
Viewing the additional charge in the web app
Log in to the SalonScale web app and go to the Sessions tab.
The additional charge will show on the client's session in the stylist's list of sessions, not the total color used. Note: if the session has other charges such as extensions or add-ons, simply hover over the session total and the color line item will show the additional color charge.
3. To see a more detailed breakdown of the total color and the additional charges, click into the session and navigate to the cost summary tab.
What about reporting? For now, you'll see the additional charge per session. There's no allotment report across stylists or the salon yet. We're using your feedback to decide what to build next.
Charging your client
The amount to charge is your service price + the additional charge. SalonScale calculates the additional charge, but it isn't added to the client's ticket automatically. You or your stylist add it on top of the service price, the same as any other cost SalonScale reports.
Using a POS integration? The additional charge is included in the note SalonScale sends to your connected POS, so you can see it there. It isn't added as a line item on the ticket, so, as always, be sure to add it at checkout.
