How to add Empty Bowl to get your SalonScale app ready to record waste

Updated over a week ago

There are two different ways you can take in order for your app to be prepared to record wasted products.

Option 1: Adding empty color bowls in-app, under the ‘back bar’ tab

In your mobile app, select the ‘back bar’ tab at the bottom of your screen. From here, you will now select ‘empty bowls’.

Select the + button and begin by taking a photo of your color bowl and then giving your bowl a simple name. i.e. ‘redken bowl’ or ‘blue bowl’. You then will weigh your bowl on its own, and enter the weight into your app. You can also add an image to identify your bowl faster.

After you have added your details. Click 'save'. You can go back and edit your empty bowls as you need.

This option is a great way to add all color bowls in at once, eliminating the need to do this during a service.

Option 2: Adding empty color bowls in-app, during a session

Once you’ve finished a color service and you’re ready to return to the backbar to measure your waste, head to your mobile app and select the bowl you would like to measure waste for.

Step 1: Select the ‘Waste’ button in the upper right

Step 2: Choose ‘Select empty bowl’

Step 3: Follow the remaining steps from option 1 to add in your empty color bowl(s).

SalonScale's Waste Bucket feature is important to utilize as it allows you to readjust future formulas, taking into account any leftover color from the previous visit, thus, reducing waste in your salon. The reason we suggest adding in empty bowls is to ensure that when you come back to record your waste, you’re getting an accurate measurement of your color and not the color bowl itself.
