A step by step guide on how to use the UPC Scanner in SalonScale

Updated over a week ago

How to use the UPC Scanner

With the UPC scanner, you can quickly search and find products when selecting products for your session, when doing an inventory count, or adding stock to your backbar.

The scanner can be found on the right-hand side of the search bar.

After you click the scanner, your camera will open. Scan the UPC code.

A product confirmation will appear, click “Continue” at the bottom of the screen to add the product to your formula.

If you are using the UPS Scanner for a session, continue to add the rest of your products and continue with your session.

If you are completing an inventory count or adding stock, continue to add the quantity of the specific product.

How to Verify My Backbar Products with UPC Scanner

If the product you scanned pops up with an alert, this may be the first time the product is being entered into our system. To add the product, click "Match This Barcode With a Product".

Next, search for the product that matches the barcode. You can do this by searching, filtering, or scrolling. We recommend being specific to the product you are in search of. For example search 09NA, rather than Spades EQ Gloss.

After you have selected the correct product, a Confirmation message will appear asking you to confirm the UPC and the product. If this is correct, select “OK”.

After you have selected Yes, you will be taken to the original product confirmation screen and you can select “Continue”.

You have successfully verified a product! You can continue with your session or count.

Verifying products in SalonScale will help you and other colorists to quickly find products when mixing at the backbar completing inventory counts, or adding stock. Thank you for contributing to our community :)

The product in-app and UPC code don’t match, what should I do?

If the product you scanned does not match the product that appeared in-app, click “Not the right product”

The app will send a notification to our team to review the barcode.

We recommend that you either select a new product to scan or manually search for the product you want to use.
