How to Measure Hair Color Waste with SalonScale
How to Measure Hair Color Waste with SalonScale

A step-by-step guide to using SalonScale's waste bucket feature

Updated over a week ago

SalonScale's Waste Bucket feature allows users to re-weigh bowls at the end of each session to determine the amount of product wasted for each bowl. When duplicating a session they can choose the waste amount. SalonScale's waste bucket feature calculates the exact dollar amount of wasted products and allows you to view this in a report broken down from product type or stylist.

How to Calculate Waste

  1. To begin, start a session in your app by selecting the "+" button found in the bottom right-hand corner of your home screen.

  2. Select your existing client or add a new client.

  3. To mix product, select "add bowl".

  4. Choose your bowl type (ex. Toner).

  5. Select which products you will be mixing.

  6. Select "Start Measuring" at the bottom of your screen.

  7. Once the bowl has been weighed you can save your session.

  8. Once you have applied your product you can return to the bowl and select the waste icon on the right-hand side of the remix icon.

  9. After selecting the waste feature you will be taken to a new screen where you will be instructed to re-weigh your bowl with leftover color to determine the amount of wasted product.

  10. Tap Select Empty Bowl, you will have to add your empty bowls in. Give them a unique name, enter their empty weight, and even add a picture. Once you have empty bowls entered, pick the empty bowl you used to mix in.

  11. Tap the “Calculate Waste” button, once you have your bowl with waste, weighed and your empty bowl weighed.

  12. Once the waste has been calculated you will be taken back to the original bowl screen where at the bottom you will see the amount of product wasted in your selected unit of measure, alongside the dollar value of product wasted. NOTE: Once waste has been calculated this bowl is considered complete and is not editable.

Click save on the session page and the amount of waste will be saved into the session.
